Kelly Newkirk-Marra, MS, L.Ac

Kelly holds a Masters of Science in Acupuncture from Tri State College of Acupuncture in New York City, an Associates  in

Occupational Therapy from The Swedish Institute, New York City as well as a Bachelor of Arts from The University

of South Florida, Tampa.  Kelly became a Licensed Massage Therapist in Manhattan in 2000 and has been a licensed 

practicing Acupuncturist  since 2006.

Acupuncture - Practitioner's Work

The educational training that Kelly received at Tri State College of Acupuncture in Manhattan was diverse.

It included training in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) with Dr. Sharon Zhao, Japanese Style Acupuncture

with the world renowned Kiiko Matsumoto and her protege, Emilie Connor, Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM) under the direction of

Dr. Mark Seem, Five Element Acupuncture with Dr. Lori Dechar and Gua Sha with the brilliant Arya Nielsen. The Beauty of this ecelectic

education is, depending upon the issues for each inidivual patient, Kelly is able to use a style or combination of styles to successfully address

the patient's chief complaint(s).

Massage -  Practitoner's Work

 Kelly's massage work is Swedish based. She encourages the use of breath when necessary, as 

 as well as incorporating other massage modalities such as deep tissue, trigger point, acupressure,myofascial work when needed.

She also includes use of essential oils  where/when appropriate. All of these skills/tools contribute to a deep feeling of relaxation and improved overall sense of wellbeing.

Kelly is certified in pre and post natal massage and has felt honored to be working with women pre and post pregnancy since 2000. In New York City she worked with

Chiropractor Dr, Randi Jaffe, one of the few chiropractors,  at the time certified and using the Webster Technique, whose practice, though varied, primarily cared for women pre and post natally.

Philosophy

My role as the practitoner is that of facilitator.

It is my intent to provide a safe, comfortable environment while using

Acupuncture  and Therapeutic Massage in order to assist a patient on

his/her personal transformative journey and return to 

optimal health and wellbeing.
